With it off its 12.80v with its on 14.79v with it on the voltage gauge reads at the middle of 9 -14 on the gauge. when i turn the headlights on the gauge drops all the way to the little red marking on the gauge. the ground at the end of the block going to the firewall was cut. So i got thick wire and put one end on the side of the block (by the other main ground by the dipstick )and the other end on the neg of the battery. It runs great but just having the problems i posted above.

Ya i don't trust the gauge its kinda off i think. Other then readings what does it sound like it could be? Is the fuse block/box bad? Because i made my own ground for the radio the ignition switch wire i connected it to the cigaret lighter wire. And the constant battery wire i connected it on the fuse block/box.(theres a open slot that says "batt" so i plugged it in into that) the radio works great saves presets and everything. As soon as i drive with it playing it shuts off and comes back on. And resets itself.

Yeah, I was going to say that spell check can be you friend. LOL Just messing with you. Anyways I just did my grounds at the bottom of the ignition coil and it did make a big difference on my 98. Also check the connection to the alt. Check the connection on the starter especially if it is covered in oil. Also you may want to pull the alt. and have it bench tested, even though you said it new it can still be bad out of the box. Make sure that the serp. belt is also tight. Give those a check and report back and we can go from there. Hope this helps some.

For me usually it's the alternator/voltage is the first thing to go if the belt is slipping.
Radi had great tip. Runr' food for a minute. (maybe cold), then feel the alt pulley and see it its warm/hot. If it's slipping the friction should heat it up.
Something to rule out anyway.
