Default Please help! My jeep has been having a delayed start

When I turn over my key to start my jeep, it has a delay of about 3 seconds more than normal. Anybody know what the problem could be?

Did you do anything to it recently?

Does it do this when the engine is cold and warmed up?

Could be nothing more than the classic fuel pump lag.

Try this: Turn the ignition on several times for several seconds, do not crank.
After the third above crank the engine. If it fires immediately then that is your new starting procedure OR you can replace the fuel pump.

Mine kind of does it too, only when cold though. When warm it starts right up. Cold it never starts on the first crank, then it starts on the second. I think I've for leaky injectors though because when warm it starts right up

I think I have something similar going on. First start of the day is usually a bit delayed or hard, fires right up after that.

Mine does this all the time now. I've put a fuel system cleaner in the tank and it seems to have smoothed out my idle and throttle response time but it has not helped this delayed start. I do the PMP (poor man pump) to pressurize the pump and it still starts with a delay. I noticed all this happened when I took my jeep mudding and I high centered it on its axles in a 3 foot rut. So mud might be a factor in my problem where do I go from this though?

Not sure. Could it be the spark plugs or starter?

Well I have changed my spark plugs to the Ngk copper plugs because I was using champion platinums so I changed those and haven't noticed much difference. Still starts hard. I'm noticing it might start hard when it's warm sometimes too. My Jeep is an 01 sport

Starts hard. Long crank times? When it starts, how does it run?

Yes it take awhile to start and cranks long. Like the OP stated. When it first starts it runs like its missing but that goes away after like 2 seconds
