WRONG!!!!.... its the government tracking device they put in the jeeps that were sold to spies... this way they could keep tabs on them while they were performing all those cool secret missions.

Do you have a sound bar? Could this maybe have something to do with a stereo? Maybe a previous owner put it there. If you can't find it in the FSM it probably wasnt put there by jeep.
If not its probably something so uncle Sam can listen to your phone calls while driving your jeep or to catch you texting while driving....

It is a motion sensor for the ABS. Notice the arrow on the top of it. I had to move mine when I installed a power amp. The sensor needs to stay level and pointed forward or your ABS warning light will come on.

I will try that cause I unplugged my abs relays and fuses cause the light was coming on a lot. But for whatever reason when I would go wheeling it would go off.

probably because when you went wheeling, you moved the weight inside the sensor, so the system thought that it was working again. If you take the sensor off, you can shake it (gently) and you will hear and feel the weight inside it move back and forth. It is a mechanical sensor that is linked to the brakes. I do not know exactly how it works, but I get the basic idea.
