Piston Ring Help
Yep. They indicate the piston size for each cylinder. "C" is standard, A-B are undersize, D-E-F-G-H are oversize. Consequences of a worn-out block boring machine.
The differences are very minor, the difference between the smallest A and largest H is only 0.003"
I thought that practice stopped in 1997 when they replaced the Kenosha engine line though. This is a later engine than that?

IMO
In the long run the cheap way is always a lot more expensive.
Engine recently seized up on the highway. I took the cylinder head off. Surely I had a blown head gasket. Took a deeper look inside and “Piston #3” was gone. The block was scored a tad and the Piston Rod is still in tack. Shards of metal was in my oil pan and even punctured the bottom of my oil pan causing oil to leak out obviously. Good news is with 249k miles on the original engine, the cylinder head did not crack. And there are no signs of cracks on the engine block.
Smdh.
Question is... Is it possible to hone down the cylinder wall on the engine, and replace the Pistons (”with larger piston rings”) and the bearings without having to purchase a new engine block.?? Basically SAVAGE this engine?! Thanks.
Best Regards.

Rock auto lists numerous sets of piston rings...both metric and standard . they also sell them in oversized bores. way back when I got mine ..metric and .030 over. I looked up 96, that was my year but all the pistons are the same for every year
