Default 4 wheel and heater control not working after heater core replacement

1987 Cherokee 4.0

Well, I wasn't there when they were trying to reconnect hoses after replacing the heater core. (I did the rest but had to work and wife and friend finished it up) Everything worked previous to the heater core replacement.

I have good vacuum all the way to the solenoids on the heater box with no leaks. The left solenoid (on the heater box behind the lower dash on the passenger side) doesn't seem to be actuating at all. The right does actuate (clicks). I can get the vents to come on about half way between defrost and heat.

4 wheel drive does not work at all. It doesn't sound like the front end is engaging.

Soon I am going to switch over to a cable operated (discovered that while searching for the resolution to this issue ) But need this asap.

Any help would be great.
