i've seen them made out of pvc pipe, all they do is run thru the fender into the air box. just make sure everything is sealed.

my friend had one on his 5.2 ZJ it was just a pvc pipe that he ran from the flex tube thru a hole he cut in the fender all the way up i would not reccomend no filter tho
another friend of mine has a s10 zr2 with the same setup only she has a cone filter at the end of the pvc
but as already said just make sure everything is sealed and you will be good

as long as all the other holes are sealed and the hole for the pipe is below the filter and sealed you should be fine with that too

I've read a few threads about homemade snorkels by searching.

i have thought about a snorkle too and while yes safari snorkles are overpriced im most likely going to go with one of those because not only the snorkle part but i think they look really good on a cherokee

Search for muddeprived's snorkel write up. It's very low cost and bad @ss. Doesn't catch on trees while wheeling either.

i made one on my 5.2 zj, we used 3inch pvc and some elbows, then i ran a filter at the top to rule out the stock air box, some guys i know use paint cans with filters in them under the hood, i sealed all the pvc together with cement then sealed the hole in the fender, it worked awsome, sounded amazing and got the job done. just make sure it is exactly the way you want it when you cement it or your going to have to learn to like the out come,,,, that cement is serious stuff it means buisness
