Hello:
Anyone out there know what this is/was supposed to be?
I'm guessing it is part of the cooling system. Also, there is a green wire that appears to be hooked into one of the fans. the other end goes directly to the battery.
Pictures are attached.
I would like to undo the previous owner's mods and return to stock before I start upgrades.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

u8nless the renix motor has been removed and a HO 4.o installed that is not where the renix cooling temp sensor is located on your year, as for the fan being wired straight to battery the radiator should have a switch located on driver side tank right above the hose that would control the fan

Looks like someone put a newer model
t-stat housing on. If someone wired up the fan straight to the battery then there might be a problem with it functioning properly when you fix it, I almost wired mine straight up but I tried a new relay first and that fixed it.

I believe this is a Renix, not an HO.
So if someone has switched out the t-stat housing, is there a plug I can put where the drywall screw is currently residing?
Also, where is the temp sensor on a Renix located?

just unscrew the sensor and get a brass plug for it the coolant temp sensor is located on the drivers side engine block under the intake/exhaust manifold .. FYI on renix it has nothing to do with the cooling fan operation .

Your temp gauge SENDER is at the back of the head. The temp SENSOR for the fuel injection system is on the driver's side of the block about 1/2 way back.
