Part confirmation please
Can anyone confirm that this NSS is good for my 1999 Cherokee sport 2wd 4.0? it is one of the parts I have been considering swapping since mine has given me trouble in that past and am currently having a no start issue.

Yeah I have done that once already. It hasn't been a year yet. Was curious more because this one is listed at $39.00 and they are $200 at RockAuto. Something scares me about that price difference.

Did you clean it correctly and put tons of dielectric grease during the reinstall? I used fine grit sand paper to make the electrical connections all shiny again. You also need to adjust it when you reinstall so the engine only stars in park and neutral and so that your reverse lights only shine when in R. Your sensor could also just be dead, you sure it isn't the cranshaft position sensor causing a non start?
I cleaned it with up and adjusted it. I didn't put any dielectric in before putting it back together. I am completely new to dealing with the electronics in vehicles, aside from the basics, and always second myself on where and how much to use. I went thru the no start checklist that I found on here and still came up flat which led me to believe it was the starter.
Further inspection of the battery cables (I had one of those temporary lead clamp on it) and when I pealed back some of the cover on the cable I found caked in corrosion. Volt meter showed nothing at the end of the cable at the starter end. So I pulled those out and am waiting on my new ones to come in. I'm hoping that the cables were the problem. If it was the crankshaft sensor it would still crank, but not start correct?

That's correct, if the cps is not connected or faulty the engine will just crank and not start. If the nss is bad then the starter won't even spin because the computer will think you are in something other than park and neutral. From what I've read, the nss doesn't typically crap out and only needs to be cleaned ever so often. Grt those cables replaced, that sounds like your issue!
