Paranoid about sounds/smells
Ok I am generally paranoid about sounds and smells when it comes to vehicles especially when I am still learning the "normal" running sounds.
I have only had my Jeep for about a month, maybe a little more. I am slowly working on changing out all the fluids and doing the various gaskets (head, diffs, and xfer case)
Tonight on the way home from work I hit a puddle that was about 2 inches deep, the water splashed pretty high and I had a good laugh and it was fun. I came to a stop at the stop sign and went to accelerate on down the road and the engine sounded like it was going to explode spitting and sputtering and shaking like mad.
Turns out something got too wet and caused problems, once it heated up and dried out some everything was fine.
My question here is WHAT did I probably get wet to cause it to do that and is there something I can do still be able to have puddle fun and not have the engine flip out on me?
Sorry for the long post
Thank you in advance

To check if the wires may be the cause, take a spray bottle of water and with the motor running, spray an area of wires....don't be afrais to soak it good. If nothing happens, move on to another area with wires and repeat. DO NOT use this process near the air filter.
