It did freeze that night, but the part time light is staying on. It still engages/disengages, just the light stays on.
The three vacuum lines on the Vac Disco are still zip-tied in place. (there on the right-front axle). I have good manifold vacuum and the heater controls work. I'm sure it's disengaging, and "bucks", cut hard when engaged.
I guess there is a vacuum switch that gets vacuum after the fork in the disco has moved the sleeve over engaging the right front axle. Sweet! (unless your fork broke, then the light comes on, and you are still in "one wheel" drive)
Does anyone know anything about this switch?

OK i went into my Dad's dealer notes...
If it is 100% out of 4wd the switch on the transfer case on is dirty and they can be cleaned or needs to be replaced...
The other reason he has listed here is that the linkage on the transfer case needs to be adjusted... with time they can get sloppy.. and he has a page Number on how to do that...
If you have no vac problems I would clean the switch on the transfer case to start

Thanks guys! Yea, I suspected as much. It's been freezing cold and I have junk in the only "bay" to bring her in and really get up in there.
"the switch on the transfer case on is dirty and they can be cleaned",....sounds like what I was fishing for. As you know I'd clean a switch before replacing. Happy New year to you both! Don

Rooster, my left engine mount, ( & tranny mount) is, and has been toast for a long time, so my linkage IS wrong. (doesn't touch/"radio")(I pry my engine back an inch anytime I want to remove the E-fan). Me thinks this is a "disco" related thing with vacuum, and your dad's note that the switch can be cleaned is SUPPER!

The blue vac switch on the passenger side firewall closes and grounds the light when vacuum is applied to it --from the CAD vac motor.

Well my "mistake", except we clarified a couple things in this thread. It turns out that the left, (That's the driver side), of the three lines on my "disco", had been dis-lodged by a limb. The lines looked in place, (thanks to the zip-tie), and it still provided 4WD and functioned. The other two provided "function", except not providing vacuum to the switch to turn the light off while in 2WD. The left one is the longer finger on that pair. Its "long finger" , (back behind), had been knocked loose, but the plug it's self came back to about in place.
Finding no vacuum at the switch is what put me on to looking better at the disco connections. Thanks again Cruiser! (go ahead, STEAL the photo...you know you want to...)

If this thing makes it another 30K to 300 maybe I'll give IT a bath, and YOU better photos! (Thanks again for another invaluable tip) (I DID spend some time in the FSM. Guess I'm not very good at that, didn't find that switch)
