Default overheating. parts missing?

I just got my 99 sport a few weeks ago. It twice overflowed coolant but temp was ok. Then one day overheated. I replaced t stat and housing. Previous owner did radiator. It overheated again today. Lots of air in system but i got it out.

There is no shroud also only a fan on motor. I know i need a shroud but was there also a supplemental elec fan on this b4?

If you have ac you should have an aux fan

Mine uses it's second fan quite a bit. With one fan and no shroud I don't know if I would make it up my hill. Also my Jag/ 350 conversion overheated until I got the shroud right.

Man what year JAG? My dad sold his 67 xke I believe.... convertible... don't remember exactly but it had a small block Ford. Also the way these jeeps are designed they should not need the aux fan.... their cooling systems go downhill fast though

My road climbs 1,500 ft in 3 miles. Sometimes the washboard is brutal plus it's curvy. Lots of work and little air speed, plus sometimes it's hot. It WILL do it without the fan, but grumbles about it after I turn it off. 74 XJ6 White/Tan. It's up there with my other 5 Jeeps. D.

OP go to the junkyard and get a shroud and an e-fan from another cherokee. You absolutely need both these items.

The shroud will help direct the air better also the electric fan is very important... The electric fan on my 98 cherokee was not working and it would overheat all the time fixed it now only time I have problems is going up step washboardy roads. I would go to your local junkyard and get a fan off of a close year it should help solve your problem.

Mine kept over heating, finally put a new radiator in, should have done it first. After clutch, thermostat, and water pump.
