Overheating like crazy!
98 sport that has been overheating for about a year. But this is not what I wanted to see. Cracked head? Please any advice is much appreciated! Cyl 1 exhaust coming from near the gasket, I'm a little green in the mechanical field when It comes to this.

Well I hate to say it but I am thinking your coolant/water is going right out your exhaust pipe, Pretty sure this is looking like a cracked head/head gasket...
Just a thought...

yea, thats what i was afraid of. I'm hoping its just the gasket, lesser of two evils, but with my jeeps history of overheating a cracked head isn't a crazy thought, i used to work at a junkyard, do you think if i got one from there VERY cheap like around $50 it would be worth it?

Well it is fine to get one from there I think, But I would run it to a machine shop, Just to make sure you don't put a cracked head back on there...

If you have time to be without the Jeep for a while, pull the head and have a machine shop check it over. If it's good, have them shave it if needed and do a valve job.
The other approach is to buy the junkyard head, have it all checked/valve job/etc, then just swap the heads.

Yea that's my biggest issue is my jeep is both my mom and my own personal vehicle for a while right now, and it's getting worse everyday. About to resort to buying a cheap $500 beater just so I have something a little more dependable. Just until the jeep is up and running 100% of course.

If you have been driving it for a year with it over heating you may ave damaged a lot more then just the head. You may be looking at a complete rebuild of the engine if you have water in the oil. Running an engine with water/coolant in the oil will cause the bearings to fail. You really should have taken care of the overheating problem the first time it started overheating. You might be better off doing like you said and get yourself a cheap beater for now because you may have a lot of work ahead of you. Like I said that is if you have any coolant in the oil.
