Default PCM Problems

I have a unique problem. I own a 1998 XJ that the previous owner swapped in a 4.0 from a ZJ. The stamp on the side of the block is dated 15NOV1995 and it says ZJ so I am assuming it is from a 1996. I just shorted out the connection between the 3rd and 4th cylinders at the PCM; my mechanic and I checked this with his diagnostic tool. I am trying to identify the PCM if it is the one from the 1996 ZJ or my original one for my 1998 XJ. Are they the same or are they different? How can I identify which one the PCM is for?

It would almost certainly be the one for your '98 XJ. Can you get the part # from the PCM?

I finally found it and checked it. It's for a 98 XJ. Ordered.
