overheating at idle

Nah I'm pretty sure it was either rubbing or so close that it kept gunk from settling on that part of the cylinder. When I saw what the impeller on the pump was supposed to look like I nearly shat in the parts store! So anyway I filled the engine back up with coolant through the hole where the temp sensor screws in. Then I drove over here to kick back jack's to watch the football game and noticed the heat never got hot on the way over here. Maybe it still needs more coolant. Could I have missed anything?

HA! Love that old impeller! Somehow reminds me..."clap with one hand".
You mentioned the heater didn't work well before. Also a system with a pump like that, at one time must have been pretty ugly. Seems there is a chance the heater core might have ended up plugged up.
If it was me I'd drive it a few days to give it every chance to burp, then consider back-flushing the core with a garden hose it it still isn't heating.
