operating temp
I have a cherokee 4.0 and just fixed a blown head gasket. The temp has been around 200 but the longer I drive it it starts to creep up to 210. I'm really paranoid about it overheating since I have had numerous problems with it before. I replaced thermostat, water pump, and radiator and just had the system flushed. The temp hasn't shot up since the head gasket was replaced but I dont want to risk it. It also seems to increase the slower I go and when I am idling. Its the first time its went up to 210 since the head gasket was replaced.

You might check that the E-fan is coming on. I think it comes on when ether defrost or the AC is on, and also at a high temp, 215-218? I forget. Of course the fans need to move the air when you are not moving. I had one car that would overheat fast without the shroud.

i do know that my 2000 jeep's electric fan does not come on unless the motor hit 217. It also does not come on with the a/c. I have a friend that got to have his electic fan to kick at 190 and when the a/c kicks on. that costed him 285.00

Always verify when in doubt. Sometimes there can be some inaccuracy between the coolant temp sensor and the dash gauge.
Get an infrared point and shoot thermometer. Point it directly at the thermostat housing of a hot engine. Then you'll know. I wouldn't worry about 210 IF it does not exceed that temperature.
And get a new radiator cap and fan clutch on there if you haven't already done so. I also like thermostats purchased directly from Jeep; aftermarket stats are hit and miss, with a lot of miss.
