Default One little accident.

Hi everybody. Longtime lurker, first time poster.

I recently got into a small fender bender with my Jeep. It bent up the front right bumper and fender, as well as broke the turn signal. There was no visible damage to the engine compartment.

The problem is, as soon as I hit, I lost all power. The engine was still running, but there was no throttle response at all. I tried shutting it off and starting it up again, but while the engine would turn over fine, it wouldn't start. I checked the CPS, got a resistance of 200 ohms, got a spark by pulling one of the plugs and arcing it against the block, and judging by the way I got sprayed in the face from the schrader valve, I have plenty of fuel pressure. Can anyone give me an idea of what else could be the problem?

my guess, because mine did the on the trail after tapping a rock with the front bumper, check the conections on the battery they might have loosened up with the hit not giving you a good clean connection.

It would appear to be either
A) loose/bad ground
B) damaged positive distribution Thingy

Check the ground cables then check the thing that the positive connects to (not the starter) for looseness / damage.

there is a little vacuum cylinder that resides in the passenger side of the bumper and stores pressure for you engine and vacuum system. if that is disconnected it will not start

A small vacuum leak shouldn't prevent it from starting. It would make it a bit harder but the hose from the vacuum tank shouldn't be large enough to pass enough air to make the engine run too lean to start.

Just redid the battery connections. That wasn't it. Hopefully I can check all the grounds before it gets dark tonight.

Does the vacuum cylinder look like this? That was directly behind where it got hit and seems to have gotten knocked around a bit.

Not sure what year you got some vehicles have a fuel pump realy. Its under the dash or on a kick panel like the passenger side. Not sure if you have it but thats what it does

I always wondered where that was. Not enough to actually figure it out, but still, it's good to know .

If there is spark, fuel, and air getting in the cylinder, it should run..
Run a ground wire from the battery to the motor somewhere, and then run another to the frame.. make sure they have a good connection. See where that brings you
Why would you say it wont start without the vacuum ball? It will of course start, it will idle high. Dont know where you are reading your facts...or are you just making them up??

Ill go rip mine out and post a video of it starting if needed.
