Default OK here is a weird one.....

If anyone has been reading my posts...i just did a evap core change on my 2001...i have dash back in and car is running..but here is my dilemma...

When i turn the key to the "ON" position i get all my dash status lights..(airbag, seatbelt..etc...) but i noticed i do not get my check engine light. Then when i start the engine (with the headlghts off) my Rear Defrost light on the swith is dim as well as the light for the Shifter and 4wd ( and if i press the rear def switch the shifter and 4wd light get bright)...when i turn the Headlights on these lights go off and all the other lights on the dash, including center console light up as intended.

I checked for codes and i have P1698 and P1694...i did a reset of the neg terminal and right now i have no codes but same symptoms listed above...

Has this happened to anyone else on here...or does anyone have an ideas??

thanks

Check your grounds and make sure the bulkhead connector is tight.

sounds like you pinched the wire that runs from the fuse box side, across under the heater box, and connects to the dash harness to the right of the column.

check all connectors on the fuse box side to be sure that they're connected. also, if you removed your dash to do this, check the grounds on either side of the dash...there are two on the passenger side, at knee level, on the outer most side buried between the dash and evap. likewise on the passenger side.

I can grab pics of what I'm explaining, if you'd like.
