oil sender going out?
My 1992 Laredo's oil pressure gauge acts normal then all of a sudden the gauge will shoot up to 40 lbs. at an idle to way past 80 lbs when accelerating. Anybody have this happen to them.I suspect a bad sender but,I don't know.Though I'd ask first instead of throwing parts into it.

What you describe is almost always a bad oil pressure sending unit.
I recommend buying this directly from Jeep for the best reliability/accuracy/mating with your factory gauge. There are more than a few (including me) that have had trouble with (some, not all) aftermarket units. The OEM unit is worth the extra $20.

And don't be surprised if it goes out again. They're notorious for doing that. I'm on my 3rd or 4th on my '92 with <150k miles ... and I always buy sensors from the stealership.
