My oil pressure runs around 20 for the most part and 10 if it gets run hard,I use 20-50 and I am not concerned when it does get to 10.

As far as your rust, you can buy rust converter,I bought mine at wal-mart years ago. Call your local auto paint store and ask them, they should have something,it goes on light gray and actually turns black. It worked great for me.

My question is should I be concerned if my oil pressure is 10 psi at idle?

My random question is this my jeep spent three years on and off up north. So like 6 monthes in ohio and the other 6 monthes of the year here in n.c so it has light surface rust on the axles, I know I can just sand it down and paint over it but would any of you guys be concerned?, when I first bought it I was prety upset about the surface rust but now i've learned to just forget about it I figure I will go in later and sand and repaint the axles and replace the leaf springs.
Hi & welcome to CF from Tj in NJ, I would worry more about the oil pressure than the rust, 10psi is a little low IMHO. I have 214,000 on mine and I idle at 40psi and go to 65-70psi while accelerating. I would put a mechanical gauge on it to see what the real oil pressure is and if it reads OK then its probably the oil pressure sensor near the filter that needs to be changed...Tj

well the haynes jeep cherokee manual says that oil pressure should be 13 psi at idle, as far as the surface rust goes im probably gonna get por-15 and just sand and paint it with por-15. since I have to take it to a shop to get the fuel pump lockring replaced I will have the oil pressure sensor checked then. thanks for the input
