oil pan AND tranny lines...?
oil pan removal AND tranny lines..?
Replacing oil pan gasket and rear main seal. I understand it needs to be lifted on stands so front axle hangs, giving enough clearance. I have a pair of tranny lines that run virtually parallel to my pan, low and seemingly in the way making it a problem removing pan. I had to remove a pair of brackets holding these lines, hoping it would give a little play. It did but not much. Now I have all bolts off pan but lost daylight and will attempt to finish tomm. Will I need to pull these lines, or will they not necessarily be the problem that I hope they wont?

there was enough free play in my lines once they were off the brackets holding them. (If I remember there were other brackets securing the lines to the chassis too that I removed to help)
I couldn't get mine back past the tranny so I gave up on going out backwards and dropped the drag link and track bar to get it out the front.
I then found the track bar was worn and ready to fail, so I replaced it too while it was out.
EDIT: there is a pretty good thread on this site that covers this job. If I can find it again, I'll add it. It worth your time to search for it

Drag link was seriously in the way. Found it easier to disconnect exhaust coupling and worked around those tranny lines. Was fearful of snapping one. Man, those oil pans..Am I right. I mean, dang.
