Default Oil pan removal

Doing my Rms, tightened down the vcg, got a new dizzy and gasket, as well as an oil filter adapter gasket. I have all the bolts on the oil pan removed but the damn thing won't come off! I've coaxed it with a rubber mallet and very carefully pried with a screwdriver. Im out of ideas.

Is it moving at all when you pry it? Sorry to ask but are u sure you took all the screws out? Is the starter in the way? What year is your jeep, and has it been done before?

No it doesn't move, just bends the lip a little. I've triple checked and yes I have removed all the bolts. It is an 89 sport auto, and I took off the starter. Maybe the PO did it but that was almost 20 years ago so I doubt it.

Screwdriver??? Oh no no no...consider using a rubber mallet and a 1" putty knife instead to prevent damage. I've loosened a few well-sealed transmission pans and differential covers this way, and I find that most are stubborn no matter what. Proceed slowly and pry gently.

Be careful that you didn't bend the lips too far or create a notch because you'll be doing it again

Yeah we tried our best to bend it back in shape. We tried only prying next to the bolt holes so that they could help bend them back in place as they tighten. Getting a coat of high temp paint right now, only had red but it'll be fine.

Use POR15 then when that dries coat it with any other engine paint you wish. Will last a long time then

I'm not too worried about it, we got a good coat of rust through primer and that paint stuck well. No more oil leak! its weird having a dry xj...
