Default oil pan help!!

Hey guys i have a 94 xj 4.0 and i just replaced the oil pan gasket and know I seem to have a bigger leak then when i started! I know my valve cover gasket is leaking a bit but would that make it look like oil is coming out of the rear pan?

Possibly. Gravity and airflow from driving can make it look like leaks are coming from all sorts of places. Best to start at the top and work your way down. If it's coming from the rear of the pan it could be the rear main seal though. You'd have to take the pan back off to replace it though. There are lots of threads on how to do it but it's very common and if leaking will make it look like it's coming from the rear of the pan.

I saw somewhere the (notorious) oil filter mount can also blow back and look like it's the rear main. I've hit the works with canned de-greaser, then pressure spray (car wash), then watch close with good light. Gotta find it, (them), before it's everywhere.

Sorry to point out, if it really got worse you gotta consider the pan.

yea im thinking it might be the pan. I can get it to heat up and come to operating temp and it is fine but as soon as i go down the road it starts leaking thats what gets me.
