Default oil leak at the back of the motor

i know, its crazy, a cherokee with an oil leak.

theres fresh oil that runs down the side of my bell housing, almost right where the bell housing bolts up to the motor. over night theres about a coaster-sized puddle soaked into the pavement. i didnt know about it until my buddy gave me ***** cause i got oil on his driveway

where coild the oil be coming from that high on the motor? distributor? or intake manifold gasket, if theres even oil up that high...

its not atf either, its nice and brown.

back of your valve cover, tighten the bolts. Replace the gasket.

Valve cover gasket,it could also be the oil filter housing seal.

I had a small leak, too. I tighted up the valve cover (what the repair manual called the "rocker arm cover") and that seems to have taken cared of the leak. It's the cover where you add the oil into. Use a torque wrench; I snapped off a bolt when I over-tightened.
