Everyone seems to be hitting the nail on the head. FRAM filters are crap and here is why- The only filtering media is glorified cardboard. They have no anti drainback to prevent dry starts- This is especially critical on our 4.0's that have the oil filter horizontal, without a well made anti drainback every time you start up it is a small dry-start.. Man i sound repetitive.. lol I know this because my other vehicle is an 01 f-150 with the same horizontal filter- and many guys have told me that after switching to the fram (aka "orange can of death") their engine started ticking.. To see if this was BS or not I took a hack saw to a brand new fram i planned to put in my truck and when I saw the internals I said I would never put one in any vehicle I own. That being said I have also heard that if you buy the more expensive fram they have better construction. And also in a vehicle with a more vertical filter it wouldn't be as big of a deal either.. Ok I will step down of my soapbox now

I like the mopar filter. Has everything a 4.0 needs, anti drain back and quality construction.

The people who designed the vehicle know best. I take my jeep to jeep dealer and my ford to ford dealer.

My 87 has a completely vertical oil filter. I am glad I escaped the orange can of death without any problems this time. Never going to risk it again that's for sure.

I love K&N filters... Even if the extra protection is just in my head. The 1" bolt on top is also nice so you never have problems with sticky filters.
