99.99999999999999999% of what's on the Internet that's bad about Fram filters is false, misleading, exaggerated, perpetuated myths. For that very reason, I like a MotorCraft FL-1A because it holds twice as much oil as a stock filter, fits perfect and is available at Walmart for cheap.

I grew up farming for 15 yrs. and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for 6 yrs. I did all the oil services on the equipment. The company did tests on oil and filters. fram filters dont have as much filter media as the better brands. for the money and the quility Wix filters witch are NAPA Gold Filters where by far the best. We ran equipment for 200 hrs. and then sent the oil and filter off to see the results. We used about 20 to 30 persent of the filter life. Out of CAT Donaldson Fram Baldwin. Wix was by far the best and was acually the cheapest to buy. You can buy Wix filters for about 3 to 4 bucks a peice. K&N are good but you are also paying for the name. Just my thought and expeirance though

Since it's a 4X2, I'm sure its never been off-roaded and not a spot of rust anywhere but that's pretty common in the desert of West Texas. It cleaned up real nice. My son and I replaced most of the a/c system ourselves, did a Magnaflow side exit exhaust (very quiet) and installed a PowerTrax No-Slip locking diff. When you work on a vehicle just about every day, dirt doesn't have a chance to settle/accumulate. LOL
The kiddo loves it.

I talked to a machanic for 20+yrs and he says fram are junk because the filter is cheaply made and has had issues with the internals falling apart and no longer filtering. Just passing on some knowledge. Plus since i stopped useing fram my oil pressure has gone up some.
