Since I've bought my 4.0 jeep, I have been on this site and been using the mopar filter, this is the 2nd time I have noticed where the o ring isn't sitting snug on the oil filter, anyone have this problem? Or know of this happening to these filters? I'm doing the adapter o ring this w-e and was thinking to change brands and go with the wix, thanks for any input

Ah geez people are having problems with WIX? What's the occurance rate on this? I've got through four 51515s without suspecting any issues.
Other reputable brands (perhaps moreso) would be Motorcraft, Purolator, and Baldwin. Grab a Motorcraft FL-1A, Purolator L30001, or Baldwin B2 if you really like quality. The Motorcraft unit is manufactured by Purolator.

I have seen gasket issues on different brands. Some gaskets are more firmly affixed than others during the manufacturing process. I'm not so sure that any brand is immune.
But as long as the gasket sits in the gasket enclosure on the filter, it will seal properly with some pressure when tightening; always coat the gasket with a few drops of clean engine oil before installing and no need to over-tighten!
Also when you are changing oil, make sure that the old gasket comes off with the old filter when you are removing it so that you don't double gasket when you install the new filter, which will assuredly result in some of your 6 quarts of oil being deposited onto your driveway (if you catch it quickly enough).......

I always use the Mopar filter and never had the gasket seperate. But I have had it hapen on other brands
If you don't put a little oil on it has a chance of pulling off the rubber gasket from the filter

FWIW Baldwin glues *and* crimps the gasket on.
I agree with tjwalker and RTorrez1 though. I can always remove my filters with my hand, no need for fancy tools. Never a leak.

I'm still trying to pinpoint my oil leak problem, I'm now up to the adapter O ring but after looking at it, looks like 2 bad filter O rings, the mopar one is crimped too but seems like their crimped needs some hydraulic fluid bc the last 2 weren't sitting properly, I'm going to change out the filter to another brand, I did the oil change Wednesday and by Thursday it was leaking again, I'll have to investigate some more
