oil in air filter?

i found quite a bit of oil in my air filter?

lol get used to it. It's an XJ thing. A lot or a little? A little is just regular blow by from the crank case. A lot could mean a severly clogged pcv grommet.

You need to replace or add ( if your cherokee is not euipped) a pcv valve to the front breather on the valve cover. The CCV system on your jeep is clogged ( breathers in the valvecover) and is causing the oil to be pushed through the front valve cover breather through the hose into the airbox.

Do a quick search on google its EXTREMELY common on cherokees and a really easy fix

the "pcv" valve tube/grommet have gone bad (tube going to the back of the valve cover, when looking at it from the front of the car with the hood open) or has gotten clogged

same scenario with the front breather hose.

if those are fine the valve cover needs to be taken off and the inside needs to be cleaned off

you can add an oil catch for the blow by....

Check the first post on that page...great idea. Doesnt have to be that elaborate but that one works well! It is a problem in everyone xj just about especially 90 and before.

read this if you dont have a pcv valve in the pcv grommet.
