FULL sized shovel! Trying to shovel out a buried xj with one of those little survival shovels sucks.

aside from a shovel, the FIRST thing I would get are some solid recovery points. I carry an 8k come-along, 60' strap, chains, assorted D rings, high lift, and tools. I'm running 30's so I'm not TOO worried about driveline stuff (knocks on wood)

Man..I am NOT taking u-joints offroad. I really would not want to do a u-joint replacement laying in the mud. If I was having u-joint failures, I'd buy a spare DS from a wrecked XJ and strap it to the rack. Cheap and fast solution.
