Default OEM HD Leaf Spring Opinions....

I'm looking to keep my 99 XJ semi stock (read - no lift or small lift) as it's my DD and work horse. My rear springs are sagging and I'm interested in hearing from folks who have OEM HD leafs and how they ride. The other quandary is which ones to choose as there are several available. Any input would be helpful and appreciated.

I looked at OME springs as they are high quality spring packs, but they are listed as having 1.5" and 2" lifts. I'm running 235's and don't want it to sit tail high........

yea, i'm in the same boat...my rear leaf springs are sagging and i currently run 235's. I haven't heard of "HD" oem leaf springs. I found replacement OEM leaf springs for $90 brand new each.

From what I've read, there are HD springs with 2 "arcs". I'm guessing the larger arc of the 2 is the Up Country spring, but not positive on this.

How do they ride? My concern with standard replacement packs is that they will sag again especially if they are loaded frequently....

the HD from quadratec do not ride bad and they sit up a little higher than stock but settle in nicely. I put a set on my dads 99 about a year ago. So far so good.

At this point, it's between the OEM HD springs at $99 ea. vs the OME HD springs at $116 ea. I would lean towards the OME packs but I think 2" lift in the rear with 235's wouldn't look good. Anyone have any pics with them and 235's?

I installed a whole new suspension setup last year. Same concerns as you, although I didn’t mind the “A-Team van slant look”, so opted for the HD springs. No noticeable ride quality difference, plus I know have a better load capacity without worrying about sagging. Don’t have a pic of my Jeep to show you right now….will try to get one this week.

I believe these are the springs I ordered though……

Gave about a 1 inch or so rear lift. Again, I kinda liked the rear lift look, plus when I put my wider tires on, I won’t have any worries about rubbing. This pic below is my old Jeep which I think had the 7” arch springs as it looks a little taller out back than what my current Jeep looks like.

I bought two used packs from a guy who parted out and made a bastard pack, I added an extra leaf and replaced one, I have very minimal lift, if anything it's closer to original ride height. I payed 60 bucks for the two packs and it only took an evening to put everything together. Some say that they'll sag again but if you cut the eyes off the longest leaf and put that in I think it's a good set up (in my experience it was the longest leaf that was sagging a lot). And it's not too bad for stiffness and I feel good that it's a bit stiffer under load because that was my issue, it would bottom out over bumps with too much weight on the back

I went full out Quadratec HD Replacement Leafs, Coils, Shocks and 235/75/15 look good, but should put 30X9.5 on and might clear 31’s… Since I have added lift shackles from IRO and their Spacer.
