Odd Thing Happened
Picked up my xj from the mechanics today. started it up, put it in drive and i went nowhere....reverse, 1-2, 3 all worked but D didnt unless i started out in 1-2 and worked my way to drive as i built up speed.
Any possibilities?

Was it shifting fine before you took it to the mechanic? If so, It sound like they think that they found a sucker to pay them to fix something they did. If it was working fine make them fix what ever they did to it. Just my opinion.

Good chance the fuse for the TCU is blown. Up under the passenger side dash. Yellow harness.
