Talking OD SHUDDER

ok it seems everytime my 93 xj goes into over drive (45-55 mph) it has a slight miss to it. i dont know what the problem is with it. it has freash fluid in it. doesnt slip at all in any gear. just that shudder once in a while. ive searched all over internet and all ive found is ford trucks with this same problem and the fix was change coil packs. if any of you had this problem please let me know how you fixed it. it is a I6 with 248,XXX miles

Your universal joints could be the issue as well.

When was the last complete tune-up with plugs, wires, cap and rotor?

I've had a similar problem too, at certain inclines and speeds it feels like it wants to stall. No amount of pedal adjustment will get it goin until it wants to. My last tune up was done about 9,000 miles ago. My fuel pump has been slowly going out, first it was the check valve, so I attributed the shudder to the fuel pump...

Check idle air sensor, and check and make sure you have good tight connections on plug.

IAT pig tail connectors or the CTS pig tail connector might be wornout, this was happening to me and not any more

I'm wondering how an IAT sensor or a CTS would ONLY affect a vehicle at speeds and ONLY in overdrive.

With over 40 years of automotive experience I can't fathom this.

who knows when the last tune up was done. i just got this not to long ago and trying to peice neglected stuff together. people think "its a jeep i dont have to work on it." it idles fine and everything. just getting into overdrive it wants to do this. it does sound like a miss but naturally since its obd1 it isnt going to throw any codes.

yeah exactly what i said my jeep was doing it lil rough starting and then about 45-50mph was doing same thing tried and tried to figure it out myself for about 6 months said f-it brought it to a real life mechanic lol he had a tough time figuring it out after 2 weeks he called and said he fixed it and that was exactly what was wrong pig tails were so worn out, they had bad connections. all he did was splice new connectors on there and now i have no CEL and runs great. was a cheap fix i would recommend trying this before you throw over thousand dollars worth of parts at it like me. i thought it was fuel spark everything. even back pressure injectors i went threw the whole jeep changing one part at a time and the whole time it was just bad connector plug so try that. "just advice, thats all it is, do what ever the **** you wanna do."

That can also be other secondary ignition components besides the coil failing under a load, like plugs, wires, cap and rotor. All normal 30,000 mile tune-up items.

ya il pull all that stuff in the a.m. and give it all a good eye. i honestly think its a tune up problem. at least i hope. i talked to a transmisson expert and he said possiable torque converter clutchs going out. i dont think he knows his stuff cause he said chrystler doesnt make good transmissions.our trannys are toyota that i herd.
