Someone correct me if im wrong but all vehicles after 95 were obd 2. So 84-90 jeeps are renix, 91-95 obd1, and 96-on are obd 2

 

That sounds correct to me.

Although it's amazing how many shops will try to plug in obd1 to a Renix

 

I believe they did the switch in mid '96. So, if you've got an early '96 (built from 7/95 - 5/96 ) you may have OBD I...I'm not too sure though.

 

the general rule of thumb for OBD for all manufactures is 96 or older is OBDI 96 and newer is OBDII ...96 was the transition year so funny things happen and its hard to define exactly what the cut off is any way if you are lucky enought to be OBDI key on then off 5 times and your check engine light will flash count the flashes and look the code up on google

 

Yes mid 1996 is when almost every vehicle started the OBDII

 

According to my Snap On Scanner, all 96 and up vehicles or OBDII, but that is a lie it is the transition year as stated.

 

I believe some vehicles were equipped with OBD-II diagnostics starting with their '95 production models and all '96 model vehicles have OBD-II diagnostics. I would say '95 was the transition year.
