The treads might be the same as some spark plug hole chasing taps that might be cheap at Harbor Freight. You might be able to clean up the hole with something like that...The one on my Renix Jeep looks like the large Ford type thread.

No, not hard. It's sort of like a bolt, but tapered with cutouts for shavings. You just screw it in and it cuts the treads clean. It's called "chasing" since you are not actually tapping new threads. Actually, that chase might have a handle like a screwdriver.

Doubt you would need to heat it, use some oil though. This might be the cheapest one> http://www.ebay.com/itm/14mm-18mm-Spark-Plug-Hole-Thread-Chaser-Tool-Chasing-Plug-LIQUIDATION-/281439631224?hash=item41871bf778&item=281439631224&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr

Just dealt with a similar issue on Ratmanche ... PO of my HO manifold had left a sizeable portion of the O2 sensor threads in the manifold bung. Just pried and picked them out with a small screwdriver. Manifolds are far harder material than the sensor threads.
Renix and HO threads are the same (have a 93 manifold on my 00 XJ and a 94 manifold on my 88 MJ ... Both using stock sensors).

You won't get a better reference than that.
