So my reverse lights were hit and miss and when they worked, a wiggle of the selector knocked them on and off.
I didn't like the lever the nut method to remove it so designed this:
It's fully 3D printed with 2 parts and screws itself onto the threads of the NSS. The first part is U shaped and that screws onto the NSS. The second is T shaped and slides into the first part, it contains a hole for an M8 bolt to go through and a cut out for an M8 nut to sit into. Once all screwed on and assembled, simply turning the bolt head begins to pull the NSS off from the gearbox.
You people and your 3d printing abilities make me sick!! Ok, maybe jealous is the right word. I've been wanting to make an emblem to replace the front and rear on my F150 so they didn't say Ford but I can't even figure out out to make a simple oval with my own design on it.
Way cool that. The "printer", at school I'd guess or work? Wonder where a guy known as Flintstone might access one.
I bought a build it yourself kit a few years back so my one's at home. Great bit of kit to have if you like making bits. Everything in my signature (bar the trim) is currently fitted on my Jeep.
The files are now uploaded and updated to fit better. I had to grind down and drill out my model to make it fit properly so the new model should be a straight fit.
I must have been lucky when removing my NSS since it came off fairly easily. Not so with other undercarriage fasteners though. My problem is, after replacing the NSS to get my back-up lights to work, I still did not have back-up lights. Does anybody know if any other switches control back-up lights on a 2000 XJ with auto trans ? The FSM shows a back-up light switch on the left side of the manual trans but nothing on the auto version. Thanks guys.
The NSS is what powers the reverse lights. I can look later at a wiring diagram to find the exact fuse but you should check fuses if you haven't already.

Thanks man. Fuses are all good. Any related info would be greatly appreciated.
Wow, top work
I might be in the market for one of those soon. My reversing lights are also hit and miss - they work when the Jeep is hot but not on start up. Most winter mornings I have to reverse by the light of my brake lights!
