Need help my 2000 xj won’t start unless I use a jumper wire on the harness to bypass the NSS. I have plugged a different NSS in and still won’t start what could be causing this problem?

Please clarify; "plugged in a different NSS". Thinking that if jumping at the plug works, another switch that works would achieve the same result as jumping it. Did you try holding the key over to start and jiggling the shiftier around neutral and park? I only ask because if this works it's a sure sigh of a gummy or mal adjusted NSS.

OR a broken wire in the harness to it. Very common with wiring underneath a vehicle. On my WJ, the reverse lights quit working because a wire to the NSS broke at the plug on the trans. Luckily it was only the reverse lights and not the important ones.
