Default Noise from rear end?

I'm getting a random vibration sound from the rear, but I only hear it while I'm at a full stop and the car is in gear. While moving I don't hear it, and while in Park or Neutral I don't hear it either. Not sure what it could be. I checked the exhaust pipe and it doesn't look like its rubbing against the shield or hanger or anything. I did put a new muffler in about 3 weeks ago and the sound started happening a week after that. Again I checked and everything exhaust wise seemed tight, any idea what it could be?

Thanks in advance.

Check to see if it's hitting the shackle or hitch.

It doesn't appear to be hitting anything, and no hitch.

I already kicked it out of frustration, and nothing

many test your catalytic converter by banging on it to see if they hear anything loose inside... on a 15 to 20 yr old cat....they probably loosened up something....might be something to check.. also you might want to check your trans mount and engine mounts...

Thanks for the tip. I will check the area, it's most likely the trans mount since I can only hear it when it's in gear (goes away when i put it in neutral)

I actually thought it could be my license plate rattling, but everything back there seemed fine. I'm checking the trans mount.

Okay guys, no update. I cannot figure out where the noise is from. It has gotten more frequent, and still only happens when I am in drive. If i throw it in neutral, noise goes away, back intro drive and its gone until I stop at another red light.

Sounds like the muffler job moved the pipes just enough to maybe hit the axle.
