Noise from jeep
So for this to be in full context I've got to tell the full story. I was about 2 miles away from my house in a parking lot and my top coolant blew off, obviously it blew a 20 foot high cloud and I turned off the jeep. I put 2 bottles of water in the coolant tank because I couldn't get the radiator cap off. So after I got the water in and the hose back on I drove home and about half way home it started making clunking noise or may b ticking noise and overheating. I got to the top of my driveway and the second i let off the peddle it died. So now I went to see what was wrong and it turns on just fine and drives just fine until about 5 minutes into the drive it starts clunking again and climbing rpm's and overheating. Does anyone know what this issue could be or how I could fix it? Thank you!!

The overflow tank is for when everything heats up and expands and the “extra” antifreeze needs somewhere to go. It could just dump on the ground but instead it goes into the tank. Then, if the system cools it can suck the water back up.
You need to put coolant in the radiator.

Well that’s kinda hard to answer. You certainly overheated your engine a few times. It might be fine. You said it ran fine for 5 mins so that’s a good sign.

1) if the hose came off you probably lost all of the coolant.
2) putting water in the coolant recovery tank did nothing to replace the lost coolant. When you are driving it your are driving it with little or no coolant
3) yours is a 2000 , probably with a 331 head, bad thing to overheat.
4) clunking noise is bad.
You need to get the thing filled up, thru the radiator and the air bled, and see where things stand

so i put coolant in the radiator and got it all filled up and started it, it idled fine for like 3 minutes at about 800 rpm. Then over the next couple minutes it climbed rpm to 1000 then 1200 then 1400 and then if i press the throttle to like 2200 it just stays there without pressing the throttle and i have to turn it off because its revving so high. It also it getting a little smokey at this point.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have a blown head gasket or cracked head. Possibly what caused the hose to blow off in the first place. The typical 331 head crack leaks coolant into the oil. How's the oil look? Milkshake or cloudy.
On the high idle, you might have a bad vacuum leak. That could be a number of things like the intake manifold leaking or even just a vac line knocked loose.

This my oil, its pretty low right now because i pulled the oil pan off and I didn't have enough oil to fill it back up after.
not shore what the tubes on the valve cover are for but this one broke off so not sure if thats a vacuum leak.
The hose on the valve cover should go to the air filter box. When you lift the hood there should be a diagram on vacuum hose routing under there somewhere if it ain’t faded or missing.Once you get the radiator full of coolant let the engine idle with the radiator cap off. Look for air bubbles coming to the top of radiator neck . If there are it is a good indicator the head is cracked or head gasket is blown.Be Safe!

Hose tube on the top rear of the valve cover looks kinked, it this leaks your idle will soar
What you might do is to rent a radiator pressure tester, to see if you have a leak in the head or head gasket
