I've been having a problem starting my jeep for a while now I've replaced all the ignition parts distributor rotor cap spark plugs and wires even the crankshaft position sensor twice now one I bought and the other time I took out of my parts jeep that did run when I last used it so it works. and i'm basically looking for advice as to what's going wrong because i'm not getting spark i've taken the plug out attempted starting it with the plug touching the block and there was no spark. I've checked all connections to the distributor and CPS Checked all fuses and there all good. I'm at a loss here guys I really want my jeep running again.
Do you have power to the coil? If so...since you have a parts jeep, try swapping coils. You can also check the (-) coil connector while cranking- should be roughly 7-8 volts there. If you have full battery voltage there the PCM isn't switching it to ground to fire the coil, or the wiring is bad in between.

thank you radj I will try that. what would be the next thing to check for after the coil if it doesn't have the right amount of volts or none at all? isn't it the cpu that's connected to that with that connector on the back side?

I checked to see if theres power to the ignition coil i only have a circuit tester with the led light inside of it and while trying to start the jeep it only flashed twice and then no matter how long i cranked it wouldnt flash again. And in the terminal in the connector to the ignition coil would stay lit up but very dull.

Spark: 12 volts from ignition switch to the ASD relay; when the key is first turned on the PCM provides a ground to the ASD relay to energize it, then the ASD relay passes 12 volts to the coil primary side. If no crank sensor signal is generated after a couple of seconds the PCM cuts the ground to the ASD relay (and fuel pump relay too) and that cuts power to the coil (and fuel pump). Key to START and once again the PCM energizes the ASD relay. Now, a critical element is the crank sensor--no signal from the crank sensor and the PCM won't trigger the coil to provide spark.
