No oil pressure

Default No oil pressure

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I have a 1998 XJ with the 4.0. Recently during an oil change I broke the oil pressure sending unit. Replaced it the next day and the gauge was showing around 40 as normal... My only problem is today it stopped working. It dropped to 0 and my check gauges light is now on. I checked the oil and its holding pressure, I'm not losing any oil... Any suggestions? Again, thank you

Your replacement oil pressure sending unit likely failed. The odds of you developing an actual engine problem after installing a new sending unit are really, really low. What brand was the sending unit?

I recommend you buy a genuine Mopar sending unit from Mopar. Money well spent.

I'll bet that will take care of your problem. Good luck and keep us udpated!

Go to like autozone and rent a mechanical oil pressure gauge and make sure you have oil pressure. It goes in place of the oil pressure sending unit. Once you confirm there is oil pressure just go get a new sending unit.

I agree.

First make sure you didnt move a wire into a position to get cut or burnt while installing the new sensor and that the wiring is all good. Then take the new sensor back and get another one under warranty if you can. If not, get a new sensor.

As I understand there are two different sending units, one for gauges and one for lights, maybe you got the wrong one?

i know i got the correct sending unit, because as i said earlier it worked for a day then stopped. i will check things out tomorrow and let everyone know

My guess is a bad "Made in China" sensor.
