Default no more lifter clatter?

Well I've had a idle cold and restart noise for the last three years off and on. Best way for me to describe it is a faint lifter noise that goes away with a rev. I'm excited to say its gone for the last two days, I changed the oil Sun. and put a ph8a filter on. Its the small block ford filter fl1a or ph8a ford/fram. It must flow better I had to add a extra half quart when I was done. So it may help others it may not.

larger filters do not filter better, but last longer.

Thats all I ever use on our G/C 4.0. Buy the Motorcraft when they go on sale. Or else I use a napa gold filter, Ford mount. Better anti-drianback.

That's one of the reasons we bought it......most of the oil was on the inside.

I was thinking that maybe it flows more at idle or something my overall engine noise at idle is almost zero now.

Changing the oil could make a diff in lifter noise but I don't see how the oil filter could make any diff. A longer filter simply has a little more filter surface area (to hold/catch more stuff) and a little more internal volume (that possibly allows for more oil cooling) than a short/stock filter.
