No manual 2nd gear...
So I have just now realized that when I select 1-2 on my aw4 it never shifts to 2nd. It just stays in 1st gear. I know that if you put it in 1-2 in one quick movement that it will stay in 1st but no matter how I put it in 1-2 it never shifts out of 1st gear. If I bump it up to 3 it will then shift to 2nd and then to 3rd like normal. I was going to wire it up for manual selection between 1 and 2 anyway but this kinda threw me off a bit. Anyone seen this before?

There are a bunch of posts on here about how to fully manually control the aw4. But, when you put the shifter into 1-2, it is not supposed to shift into second until almost redline.

But, The coolest mod i have seen for the AW4 is the baja shifter, offers complete control of gear selection and TC lock.
There are also boxes that make a "tiptronic" like control (i.e. Paddle Shifters with momentary switches) <---Thats freakin' cool too.

I will eventually do it. I am looking for schematics to make a box to have two momentary switches and a toggle for TC lock. i have found a few, just havent found the time to put it together. I want to keep the look as close to factory as possible, maybe hide the switches like "paddle-shifters" and the TC-lock with a toggle where the high idle switch was.
....But with going through all that trouble, i sure am missing my 5-speed jeep.

Did you see this thread I had from the other day. It has some schematics from another guy that I was going to base mine off of.
