Default no electric fan

so i noticed this winter my electric fan stopped working.. it never turns on at all. so im running at 210 or a bit over all the time which is causing my radiator to steam out the cap once awhile...

What can i do to test the fan itself? and is there a peice that kicks it on that i can test and where is it located on the jeep.

thanks all.

Its probably is the Coolant Temp. Switch it screws in the thermostat housing I think. If you unplug it the fan should turn on by default. If the fan doesn't come on when you unplug it check the relay.

It is the one in the housing. BUT the fan should come on with the defroster and A/C settings on the HVAC, so just do that if you haven't. And be sure to check Fuses as well as the Relay like Silver said.

The electric radiator fan is designed to come on when the coolant temp gets to around 218*F (closer to 220*F).

Suggest you replace your radiator cap with new 16 lb. cap (Stant makes a good one), then keep an eye on your temp gauge. If you see 220*F on the gauge and the fan still doesn't come on then it's time to check the fan over temp function. Also keep an eye on your coolant overflow reservoir coolant level. When cold the level should be about half way between Cold and Hot.

I'll post a procedure for checking the fan function if you feel as though you need it, just let me know.

Cheers

Steam should not be coming out of your radiator cap at 210 or even 215. It may be faulty. Replace as stated above.

I drive around all day at 210.

My fan does not come on with the ac or defroster. I read somewhere that it was changed in 2000 or something.

maybe try the temp sensor screwed in the back of the cylingder head driver side, that is the one that reads to the gauge. if its steaming and the gauge is only 210, something is wrong there and i would worry bout that before the fan not turning on cuz that can be fixed by wiring in a switch
