No crank after changing headlamp switch
Hi all,
I am relatively new Cherokee owner and by far no mechanic. Last week I changed my headlight switch as the headlights would not go on when the key was in a run mode / headlight switch one level out (drive level?).
After changing the headlights I discovered that my car doesn't crank anymore. I have tracked the problem down to the headlight switch by checking the starter relay with a multimedia and battery is ok. (Old and needs to be replaced, but can start the engine as I hotwired the car at the starter solenoid).
As this happened after I was fiddlening with changing the headlight switch I am afraid that I simply disconnected or removed a wire by mistake. I discovered one short red wire to the right of the fusebox after I finished changing the headlamp switch. Do any of you have some tips on how to test the ignition switch before I buy a new one? Does my fuse box look ok and do anyone recognise the red cable?
Thank you for any advice and your time!
My car is a 1995 Jeep Cherokee XJ. It previously had an alarm connected, but this has been "deactivated" by a previous owner)
