No 4x4 reverse
Okay so im thinking this could be in the front axle only by the fact of I get a humming out of what seems to be the front after 40mph, hub bearings are both brand new. I helped one of my buddy's out of a mud hole the other night and in the process, heard a pretty loud thump, and lost 4x reverse. 4x Still works great 1-2,3, and drive. But only 2 wheel in reverse. Tried 4hi and 4lo, any ideas?

Pull the front diff cover off and inspect the gears. Look for busted teeth or lots of metal shavings. Check your u joints as well. Other than that I'd say its in your t case.

Jeep will still back up, just no power to the front wheels. But I still have 4x going forward. Also the indicator lights on the dash aren't coming on "part time" "full time"

Mud, i walk right through in forward and sling it all over the place, but go to reverse and only the rears spin, also had a buddy watching for confirmation, and I have a pretty good sized pit/lake that i go to if anyone every wants to play.

That's really odd. I would agree with BNJeepsta and say pull the diff cover and check the gears for damage. If they're OK start working your way up the driveline.

No not really, but then again I have loud exhaust and can't hear much from inside the jeep. This morning I dropped it in 4 right away and it grabbed hard when I put it into reverse same for forward, then took it out cause I had no where to test, got to my parents house, put it in 4 again and it didn't lock near as hard as it did this morning and only the back spun.....again. I'm pulling the dif covers off here shortly so I'm hoping its something in there, Easyer to fix/get a new axle, then to do a transfer case or tranny...

Well everything in the axle looks good...no way that this could just be a linkage problem could it? I did do a 3/4inch t case drop...
