I have the 242 J transfer case in my 98 Cherokee limited. I can put it into part-time and full-time with no problem. However it will not go into Neutral or 4wd low no matter how hard I yank at the lever. I used to be able to get it into N but not anymore. Tried adjusting the linkage and that wasn't the issue. Also I have a transfer case from a parts 98 5spd that I can pull. So if this is a big project (pulling and tearing apart the tcase, I'd probably put in a sye while i was at it) would it be best to swap that in, at least temporarily to minimize my DD down time? Or just even just swap them permanently?

Are your motor mounts and trans mount shot?

How's the fluid level?
