I have a 1993 Cherokee that just shut off on me one day while driving. I towed it home and have been working on it randomly with each new search for a solution. Before anyone says it...I have indeed searched for an answer with the amazing search feature on the forum.
My Cherokee will crank but will not spark. I have perfect fuel pressure all the way down the system. I have replaced the CPS and it still did not spark. I then replaced the ignition coil. It did not spark then either. I have had a back fire once or twice with a resulting small flame popping out the intake manifold. I have tried cranking with the fuel shut off (foot to the floor on the gas pedal) in case I had just flooded it. Still nothing. There is a strong aroma of fuel but that gives me no comfort since there is no spark.
Before I replace the PCM, I was curious if anybody had any other remedies for fixing my POS crawler.

Believe me it makes no sense in person either. I pulled the distributor wire off of the coil, put a screwdriver (with a plastic handle) up next to the tip, and my brother cranked the engine. No spark.

I know you said you replaced your CPS. But where did you buy it from. I know that anything other then OEM are hit and miss and many are bad out of the box.

Its the premium CPS from NAPA. Alright I'll give the distributor spark a try and then change the CPS again. I heard from a friend that it might be the ICM...any opinions?
