Holy crap. Good luck with that mess. Did you even pop the hood before you bought it? I would've ran--fast.

I replaced the CPS on my 90" Laredo and it wasn't too difficult. There are alot of good video's on youtube for repairs if you have the time.

If you decide to keep her do yourself a favor and change you oil and get rid of the Fram oil filter. Use a Mopar, Napa Gold or a Wix filter.

Good news!!!!!!!!!!!

The beast died on me a few days ago and I jumped it. cleaned the battery terminals and whammmm! It stalled on me once and then started making a hissing noise all of a sudden. Let it sit for a couple days and now it is running like new! I do not know what happened or if the jeep fairy came by but she is running and I actually got to drive to work today and not take the train.
I think it was the CPS that I installed. I did make the mistake of not disconnecting the battery but after I disconnected it and cleaned the terminals all seems well for now. I hope I didn't jinx it! Still gunna sell and get something with a newer cpu

Alright guys moving on.
I want to change the transfer case and transmission fluids so I will be using dex III for both but was wondering how much to use in the tranny?
I will also be changing the engine oil and diff oil.

Thanks everyone!

Put 3 in and slowly go from there. About 3.75 total.

How do you guys get 3+ quarts out of the drain & fill? Mine only gave about 2 quarts each drain. Maybe it's filled with sludge??

If you have a spare oil bottle, you can pour the old trans fluid into it, and read the marker on the side to tell you how much came out. That only helps if you had the right amount to begin with.

I don't know. We always used 3.75 quarts at the dealership for years. Others have expressed the same concern as you. Maybe we should suggest starting with 2 quarts?

Thanks guys, will start with 2 quarts.
I am now running into some more difficulties so my holiday break is going to be me getting dirty haha.
First off, the jeep seems to be running rich. I say this because there is black residue coming out in the water from the tail pipe. I also noticed on the freeway when I punched the gas black smoke came out the tail pipe.
Second, I seem to to have a crack or broken seal in the exhaust manifold. Reason for this is that the jeep is now making a hissing sound. I did look for loose or disconnected vacuum lines but could not find any and there are exhaust fumes coming out of the engine compartment and it smells pretty strong!.
Third, could a bad cat. converter be the main cause of all of this or could it be the something in the combustion chamber worn out or just bad vacuum pressure?
This jeep is killing me but at least for now she is running and I like working on it. I'm kinda of leaning towards and engine and tranny swap but I would have to have it done at a shop since I don't have the space or resources so I mine as well just buy a new jeep. I don't know guys I'm running on an extremely low budget and the holidays and family situations aren't helping much!

Oh, I forgot to mention she eats up gas like no other! 9MPG if not less and my tank seems to be a small 13.5g tank.

Yeah I'm just wondering if pan depth changed or if mine is just filled with crap, or something. I usually trust what you guys say since obviously some of you are long time pros but I was just wondering where that discrepancy comes from. Doing 4 qts at a time would have been alot nicer to do, and much more effective, ha.
