If it is off of a cherokee is should as long as you make sure your u-joints and gear ratio is the same as your old one.

If you go from a D35 to a Chrysler 8.25 you might need a shorter driveshaft. Everything else should swap. Make sure it's the same gear ratio.

Is there a way to check the ratio on the axle itself?

Edit: its a front....so I assume a hp d30....which should bolt on

If yours is a d30 I think it is actually low pinion if it is a stock 01 and I believe that the d30 from 96 is high pinion. The gear ratio is usually stamped on the gears in the pumpkin

Yea you cant put High Pinion d30 in a 2000 or 2001, which has low pinion, unless you have some 4.5"< lift to it. The pre-cats get in the way

Oh yea then you can run HP d30 but make sure you bumb-stop accordingly so you dont destroy your exhaust with your front yoke and DS

Or just re-do the exhaust.

The computer doesnt like it when you so that. In all reality you have like 1" less up travel then an older jeep without pre-cats
