Default Neutral safety switch
Hi everyone, great forum and have learned a lot from all of you. I have a 90 cherokee that wouldnt start so i followed instructions on cleaning the nss. Did that with success in that it now starts but the gears wont engage. Shifter just slided back and forth. What the heck did i do, lol.

Inspect the other side of the transmission to see if while working on the NSS that perhaps you knocked the shift linkage off the shaft (the same shaft that runs over to the NSS). Or perhaps damaged the linkage(s) in some way. Did you have to get brutal to get the NSS off?

The xfer case didn't get knocked into Neutral, did it?
