Default Need Some Opinions!

Ok so I replaced my alternator the other day, started it up and the guage showed around 9-10. So I took my multimeter and tested at the battery and it showed 14.8 I then turned the blower on and the headlights and it held at 14.8. Does anyone know why it would be showing different on the guage? And second, I have thoroughy searched the engine bay and I only have one ground. I know I need at least three so any suggestions on where to add some more and should I do more than three? The only one I have is the one that is connected to the oil dipstick mount. Thanks for the help

The voltage gauge itself in the dash could also be bad.

so if the voltage guage itself is bad would that impact the performance of the alternator?

There should be one connected directly to the negative terminal lead.

grounds should be 1- negative baterry terminal to the block 2- negative battery terminal to the body 3- block to the body ( the small web strap pictured above)

you might also check the positive to the pdc. your alternater might be putting out 14.8 and charging fine but maybe its not getting 14.8 to the interior/gauges

Thanks a lot fellas. That helps a lot. I'm gonna add at least the other 2 grounds that are supposed to be there if not more. Maybe that will clear up some of these alternator issues. Thanks again
